Your Instructor
I wanted to learn how to play the guitar after watching my close friend Keith play Sweet Child o' Mine. Keith started to play the iconic opening notes to the song but soon dove into his improvisation that developed from the original opening melody. I was amazed that someone could take such a famous song, turn it into their own, and do so in real-time. My mother had always encouraged me to play the guitar; getting to hear and see the instrument played so well inspired me to pick it up.
My first guitar lessons were everything to me. My guitar teacher showed me the greats, taught me their approach, and told me their stories. I became attached to what it meant to be a musician and how to play an instrument. Being someone who could improvise and get to take part in such an extraordinary history, became who I am, a guitarist. Being able to share the same experience I had, with others, is why I started Cam Pete Music.
I moved back to California after graduating Magna Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music in 2009. Since then, I created the music program at Anova Center of Education, as well as acted as music director for V², and have been teaching and performing throughout the north bay. My greatest joy is watching my students succeed to develop their sense of identity around becoming a guitarist and musician.

"I don't know where to start! Cameron is my first guitar teacher and I can't believe how far I have come in the past year. When he told me I could play Blackbird on my first lesson, I thought NO WAY. But he worked his magic and now it is my 'go to' song. He is amazing! Now, he is not just my guitar teacher, but my friend. He is a great instructor for all ages. He rocks!"

"I have been working with Cameron on Guitar lessons for about 6 months. I have no plans to stop and highly recommend Cameron as a guitar/bass/music instructor. I am a 40-year-old working professional that was self-taught and have a limited playing style and understanding of theory. I wanted to play lead guitar, and understand improvisation more. With Cameron's guidance, patience, and expertise, I am now able to navigate the entire fretboard, I have an improved understanding of basic theory, and have been able to fill in the blanks, and correct some bad habits. Cameron has always been flexible with my schedule, and professional when in my home. His world-class education is obvious in his approach to the material, and the examples he provides. Cameron sets goals, defines practice priorities, and works to make sessions fun and informative. I do foresee reaching some of those goals with guidance from Cameron, and a whole lot more practice. Big thanks and props to Cameron!"
